Most within Christianity in America today continue to live in blissful ignorance. They have become like the Laodicean Church found in Revelation chapter 3 that was living high on a hill with a false sense of security. On the other hand, astute Christians and some true patriots are aware that we are now living in a post Christian influenced America and a post constitutional America.
If these astute Christian and patriots are correct – and I believe they are – how will the American Church have to change its focus to be effectual salt and light within a nation that will be reaping the consequences of its own evil ways? How will Christian life change in America when the Constitution that was rooted in biblical concepts is ignored by the ruling elite?
Should Christians just pick up their guns and march on Washington like some imply to restore their 1950’s version of America? Does the Bible imply in any way that the mission of the Church is to overthrow or restore secular governments? I think not. Neither can true Christianity be forced on people. How can Christians force people to believe and trust in God and the Savior that He sent? It can’t be done. Nevertheless, state sponsored pseudo Christianity has been forced on people since Constantine. Using carnal weapons to advance the Kingdom of Christ accomplishes nothing but more evil.
The New Testament does tell the Church to separate itself from evil and not to accommodate evil, and that is what Christians in post constitutional America should do even when doing so is not politically correct, or convenient and might even result in their own persecution. That means that Christians should not just blindly obey the dictates of secular government. Whenever there is any dispute between what government dictates and what God said, true Christians must follow God.
The great commission of the Church, has never changed. The mission has always been to freely give the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world and to occupy until Jesus comes. Even so, how the Church best accomplishes these directives varies according to national circumstances where Christians dwell. For example, Christians in the heart of Iran cannot freely express their Christianity the same way as Christians in the Dominican Republic. (Notice that I did not use the United States as an example, because things are a changing here.)
True Christianity in America is under attack by even those claiming to be Christians. Those often called “liberal” Christians or the “Christian left”, believe that the mission of the Church is to establish social justice on the earth. That concept is really socialistic humanism or soft Christian dominionism, where the mission of the Church becomes bringing about some restored paradise on the earth through the good deeds of humanity.
Liberals in Christianity think that because man was made in the image of God, that means humans are inherently good, even if some are still misguided. The Bible however teaches the exact opposite. The Bible teaches that fallen man is evil and that his heart is desperately wicked. The natural man is separated from God by sin and must be redeemed through a spiritual rebirth.
The Gospel or “good news” is that God choose to save man through His own Son’s righteous work at the cross. By God’s grace, Jesus paid the sacrificial price for mankind’s sin and now humans can be redeemed. Those that hear this good news and believe that the now risen Christ came to save them from this body of death, are spiritually born into the spiritual body of Christ.
These liberals often repeat selected words of Jesus to justify their social justice programs, but they use faulty human reasoning and lack biblical understanding. They have no spiritual discernment because they were never born of the Spirit. If they were actually born of the Spirit, they would not align themselves with godless humanist Marxists in the name of social justice, because scripture clearly warns Christians not to yoke themselves together with unbelievers (2 Co 6:14). These pseudo Christian liberals have become dupes of the satanic world system, and they actually attack the work of other Christians that are trying to reach the world with the doctrine of salvation by Grace through faith.
On the other hand, on the far right, there are presumptuous people calling themselves Christians that think the Church should take the world by force for Christ. These hard dominionists link up with world politicians and religious leaders even if the leaders are not Christian. People in this Word of Faith, New Apostolic Reformation, signs and wonders, etc. movement, claim that they will take the world from Satan through claimed God-given special powers they have. Some apparently believe their own press.
Like the liberal Christians, they also do not correctly discern the scriptures. The foundation for their beliefs are selected scriptures twisted out of normal context and misapplied. Much of what they believe comes through claimed mystical experiences. They claim direct revelation from God, so much of their teachings comes through the Gnostic false teachers and false prophets within their own movement.
They attack all Christendom because they think Orthodox Christianity was defeated by Satan right after the apostles died. Orthodox Christendom is on the top of their enemies list. They claim they are anointed to take back dominion from Satan using supernatural powers. Some have made claims that Christians that oppose them are putting their own lives in mortal danger. They even claim that this is the reason why some Christian leaders have died. I do not know how to say it more charitably, but many leaders in this Gnostic movement are quite insane and actually belong in long-term mental institutions. It is rather tragic that the mentally ill and the demonically possessed have such a broad following among those that call themselves Christians.
Others on the far right claim a false belief that they are among the lost ten tribes of Israel. Like ancient Israel they intend to fight their concept of evil using carnal weapons. If they actually try to carry out this white supremacy dominionism, what they actually will accomplish is their own self-destruction. In certain ways the Mormon cult would fit within this category.
So you see, all Christianity in America is not true Christianity. If any of these pseudo Christian worldviews gain undue influence in America, they will war against true Christian doctrine and they will oppose the salt and light of true Christians. Right now, the liberals are still in control, but after an economic collapse caused by the stupidities of collectivism, America could just as well go to the other extreme with a cult leader running the show. Much of what is called Christianity in America is already corrupted by the world.
I see that I have not even got into the post constitutional ramifications for Christians living in America yet.
If we are actually living in the last days, what should you expect other than the lawlessness that is becoming so obvious? That does not mean that Jesus is coming back tomorrow, but by looking at world events there can be no doubt that Jesus will have to be coming within a few decades to save the world from self-destruction. That being the case, should you expect anything less worldly in America than what exists today?
Things will radically change for the worse if Bible prophecy is going to be literally fulfilled. Future wars that will prepare the way for the Antichrist are inevitable. Persecution of true Christians will increase toward the end of this age. I can’t tell you if the “one world system” will come in the guise of the left or the right, but in either case, it will morph into world fascism and an inclusive religion for the sake of pseudo world peace. True Christianity is exclusive. So we are perceived as a danger to world peace.
Many nations are now seeing the loss of personal liberties and militarization. If we are in the last days, it should not be surprising that we are seeing the same thing also taking place in America.
We see that all local police forces are being militarized and federal troops are preparing for operations on American soil against resisters of government for whatever reason. Homeland Security intends to control everything worth controlling. I think that has become obvious. We already have soft tyranny in America and the latest actions taken by our federal government seems to fulfill the very definition of fascism.
Everyone will soon be spied on. There are plans to put everyone and everything under surveillance. All roads are now leading to statism and the UN is gaining more and more control over all nations. It had to happen, because we are in the last days. Christians cannot stop the end from coming. Christians will need to adjust within the nation they live in, as we approach the Day of the Lord.
This may come as a shock, but the America you knew in the 50’s no longer exists. The majority of the people in this nation now vote against the morals and values that America once loved. Therefore, how is it that many Christians think our post constitutional America can be restored to the morals and values of what the majority in America has already rejected?
Christians literally got fat and happy in America, but staying fat and happy was never promised to Christians. In reality, Christians were promised persecution in this world. Harder times are coming – in fact – very difficult times are coming, and Christians need to be prepared for it.
Christians in America should not think that the Rapture is going to take them away before any hard times and persecution comes. The Rapture is a Church hope, but it is not a hope guaranteed specifically to Christian Americans of this decade. The fall of this nation as a super-power does not mean that the end will immediately arrive either. I said much more about these things in my article about why Bible Prophecy is not about America or the 2012 hype , so you might want to read or reread it.
Christians in America are going to have to learn to live like Christians do in many other parts of the world. True Christian are going to become increasingly unpopular in these last days. One purpose of the tribulation is to get those that did not make a decision to do so. If most of those that will not go in the Rapture were actually for us, there would be little reason for them to have to go through this trial. True Christians can expect increasing persecution from the old Roman World Harlot that will soon take center stage.
True Christians will increasingly be persecuted by pseudo Christians. The state is also certainly going to see true Christianity as a threat to socialistic fascism (no, that is not a contradiction of terms, most are misled about the nature of fascism). The true Church in America might very well have to go underground like in China. There are visible pseudo Christian churches in China but the true Church meets in the homes of true Christians. When the Harlot of Revelation 17 is in control, biblical Christianity will no longer be found in big buildings.
In the future, the ability to work for the kingdom of Christ will become difficult, and time to reach souls will grow short. The mission will be to reach as many people with the true gospel of Jesus Christ as we can before the end comes. In these last days, we can be sure that the world will provide plenty of distractions and evils directed to mislead believers. Much deception is already coming in through some of our own church leaders.
The American government may even try to reeducate Bible believers like it happens elsewhere where true Christianity is not allowed. Nevertheless, God is fully able to keep His own, and He will give His people the grace to handle it. Therefore, now is not the time to worry about what you will or will not do when true Christians come under persecution in America.
There are ways that Christians can prepare themselves to get through the difficult times that are coming in the future:
1. The best preparation that anyone can make for the future is to learn the scriptures.
2. Christians should learn understanding of the scriptures by listening to sound God-given teachers in the Church.
3. Always compare what teachers teach to what the scriptures actually say when the passage is read in a normal common sense context. God is not the author of confusion. Also keep in mind, that there are no infallible teachers in the Church.
4. Find Christian fellowship. This will become even more important as the end approaches (Heb 10:25)
5. Be discerning. There are many wolves in sheep clothing out there that will twist the scriptures to lure in those with itching ears. They do it to gather a following and their usual motivation is money, ego or they are demonically deceived. Do not follow them.
There are some good ministries exposing these false teachers and false prophets. You can find some of them from my link directory (second section). Use these resources and find out who the false teachers and false prophets are. You also will need to keep up to date because new heretics and heresies arrive on the scene regularly. These deceptions will only increase as the Day of the Lord approaches.
Found the topic of this post interesting so I read it. I must say for something you posted in July of 2012. You nailed it and even had a couple things come to light since then. NSA anyone? I watched the Hal Lindsey report for 7/19/2013 and he made a reference to the one world religion and how it might just be the political correctness movement. I wont go into more detail because I would just mess it up. Needless to say it was very much in line with this blog Don.
“Christians in America are going to have to learn to live like Christians do in many other parts of the world.”
Just in the last month I’ve become involved with Voice of the Martyrs and have just begun to understand how Christians in other parts of the world live. That’s where I got the book Tortured for Christ that I mentioned on another blog. I’m not going to be graphic here and cite examples of the creative ways Satan has devised to torture Christians but I believe only the Holy Spirit can hold up a person under some of those circumstances to help them to not deny Christ.
Are Americans prepared for the reality of being persecuted? I’m not. It isn’t just being ridiculed or forbidden to share the gospel; it’s your life.
I haven’t been able to inspire any one yet to understand Americans aren’t exempt but I’m still trying.
Too many really do cling to the belief that the rapture will take them away before anything too bad happens to them.
Heed Don’s advice and prepare and invest some time in finding out what persecution really is.
I refer to Christ’s words in the Gospel of John 15:18. “If the world hates you…:-) ” And John 14 all of it “Do not let your hearts be troubled….”. I ask Yeshua to put a suffering soul in my path so I’M can witness to them. I want the age of Grace to end so we can leave this hell-hole!
