I must have missed that Sunday School lesson where God said we could make a compromise with another religion. Besides that the Muslims are lying through their goat cheese rotted teeth. They are taught in their Islamic schools that they can lie to infidels to gain the upper hand. Also did everyone forget that if we don’t convert to Islam that they are allowed to kill us. I read this article myself earlier today on FoxNews (which I regularly check) and I was pretty sure you’d bring up this article on your blog. I think this may be quite significant considering the fact it’s been sent not merely to the Pope but also to representatives of the Eastern Orthodox churches and Protestant denominations and was signed by representatives of all or most Islamic sects. It also seems to be pointing into the direction of the emergence of a new ‘Bablyonian’ end times religion in the way you outlined it in your vision of what the end times may be like. I’m very curious about how ‘Christianity’ is going to respond.
By the way, did you notice that the letter is silent on the Jews? It seems they’re not going to seek common ground with the Jewish religion as with Christianity. The problem is that ‘Christianity’ is something I think is quite a misleading word since Jesus didn’t come down here to establish a new religion as Muhammad did, but to fulfill the Law and allow Jew and Gentile to enter God’s kingdom upon repentance. He never contradicted Jewish beliefs, except that he went against the legalistic form of Judaism of the Pharisees. The early Roman Church quickly did away with the Jewish roots of Jesus and now Muslims think that ‘Christianity’ is a religion of its own that is detached from Judaism. What’s worse is that many Muslims seem to think all Westerners are truly ‘Christians’ by definition. In other words, if the modern ‘Christian’ West accepts this offer, then logically true born-again Christians will get in trouble in the long term. But it’s all speculation I guess. We first have to see how the ‘Christian’ churches will respond and the general public.
On a sidenote, I have to say I don’t think finding some ‘common ground’ is necessarily wrong but it must happen in a spirit of truth and respect and I’m afraid that offers like these are to be taken with extreme caution. The kind of middle ground seeking we’re seeing here is going to fool many. Sure Islam has some appeal and resembles Jewish and Christian beliefs in some ways and we shouldn’t deny that. It’s a good starting point if you wish to reach out to Muslims. But this kind of seeking common ground means you’re not going to be able to point to the vast differences and contradictions between Islam and biblical beliefs anymore and that is something a Christian should never risk compromising.
Joel could be right, it could be a warning before they OK a major attack on a major western target. Yet, it is also the world’s solution after the attack and counterattacks.

I agree that Muslims see Westerners as Christians. They observe the Western culture and think Christianity allows lawlessness.
If they truly understood the Christian beliefs many of them would convert.
Since true Christianity is probably less then 10 percent of the Western population you should see how easy it will be for liberal Muslims to unite with liberal “Christians” on common moral points to form a universal belief system where all religions lead to God.
Muslims would have to become more permissive and Christians less permissive. Lets face it, all who do not take their religion seriously probably already believe in universalism.
We also might now see the connection between the “Christian” or Western Left who today kiss up to the Muslims. They do so because many of them are really universalist’s, as are many of our globalist Western leaders. One such leader named George Bush made that rather obvious the other day in his statement that all religious pray to the same God.
When you think this through the conclusion becomes apparent. After the religious wars all world religious dogma will be downplayed in favor of universalism within all major religions. It will be the only politically correct position taught and allowed. It will be pushed in the name of world peace and because she claims to know God but embraces doctrines of demons she is called a Harlot in Revelation.
If some Neanderthals like us fundamental Christians (or believing Jews) will not change then we will be dealt with through politically correct hate speech laws. In their eyes we will be a grave danger to world peace. It all fits perfectly within the prophetic end time scenario of the seal judgments of Revelation.
Soon thereafter the two prophets of God appear and preach to the world the coming kingdom of the Jews led by Jesus and they will not be able to stop them for 1260 days. It will drive all who do not love the truth mad.
