John McCain’s pick of Sarah Palin was brilliant. He could not have pleased Evangelical Conservatives more had he picked Kay Arthur for his Vice President running mate. Here is a bright young vibrant born again Christian Governor that is not part of the good old boy Washington political establishment. A woman that is actually living out her faith in her decisions and lifestyle. Dr. Dobson is excited about Sarah Palin being McCain’s choice as is Rush Limbaugh and they will now support McCain. These are the the two big voices that can actually bring out a large conservative vote for McCain. This choice by McCain also sets the stage for the future of the Republican party if
he should win.
Sarah Palin certainly will be a great asset to help McCain win. She will not only appeal to mainstream women she will appeal to blue collar Democrats opposed to abortion and elitist socialism. With this ticket I also support McCain even though I do not agree with some of his past positions. The alternative to this ticket is the ticket of the far left and their demented polices will likely bring the demise of this nation.
You also have to give McCain some credit for his leadership decisions and his judgment. Obama is so out of touch that he could not even pick a suitable Vice President that would appeal to mainstream America. He picked a tired old liberal ivy league professional politician from the good-old-boy network. Mainstream America does not want Joe Biden with his lack of good judgment and his talking down to everyone who does not agree. The Catholic church is not even sure that they want him in their fellowship with his pro abortion views.
I guess some will say that McCain only picked Sarah Palin as a strategic move and that he does not actually believe the things that she does. That certainly might be true but think about this reality. John McCain is 72 years old. Statistics indicate that there is about a 20 percent chance the he will not finish out his first term. He would have only about a 50/50 chance of finishing two terms and if either should happen the most grounded Christian and independent minded person in politics would take over.
Also having Sarah Palin as number two will keep John McCain honest. Should be become too liberal there is a huge chance that he would not even be nominated for a second term and there is also a chance in any case that McCain will not even run for a second term. If any of these things happen Sarah Palin would become the front runner for President. Palin will become hugely popular after a term as Vice President as she is popular as Governor of Alaska with over 80 percent support. Even if McCain serves out two full terms Sarah Palin would be the logical successor and that should be a good thought for Christians.
So I am bringing all this up to tell those who said they will sit out this election because they do not like either choice to now reconsider and vote for McCain/Palin. God could have a plan here for restoring America to constitutional government, as well as fiscal and moral sanity, if His people will do their part and vote against the takeover of America by far left radicals.
A GOP first — female VP nominee (OneNewsNow.com)
John McCain has announced an “out-of-the-box” pick for his vice-presidential running mate: Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. (see video report)
In Dayton, Ohio, the McCain campaign has confirmed that the presumptive GOP presidential nominee named Palin — the first female governor of Alaska — as his pick to join him on the November ticket. Palin and her husband, Todd, are the parents of five children, one of them with Down syndrome. She is a reformer and a self-styled “hockey mom.”
The 44-year-old governor, described by some in the media as a “religious conservative,” was elected to lead Alaska in 2006 after defeating the Republican incumbent. She is strongly pro-life, opposes same-sex “marriage,” and is noted for her energy policies promoting independence from big oil companies.
Governor Palin is described by many conservatives as someone who will rally not only women voters, but also pro-life supporters. Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, says pro-life supporters are familiar with Governor Palin. He says Governor’s Palin’s spot on the ticket will attract those who had mixed feelings about Senator McCain.
“If we look at the vast segment of the electorate for whom abortion influences their vote — and that’s approximately one third or more of the electorate — then we find within that segment that there is a two-to-one margin in favor of pro-life candidates.”
Christian activist Dr. Gary Cass also believes evangelicals will strongly support McCain now that he has chosen Palen as his running mate. Cass is chairman of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission (CADC), which this past spring unveiled an online petition. The document called on presidential nominees for both major political parties to select a running mate who as been born again, who publicly affirms historic Christianity, and who has a proven record of supporting traditional Christian morality.
Cass says Governor Palin will re-energize the evangelical base. “We have a young, evangelical leader who stands for our particular issues, who will be now be a leader into the future,” he says of the governor-turned-VP-candidate. “[I]t was a very courageous choice by John McCain.”
Although I am not old enough to vote (13), I find this somewhat concerning that you regard Christians who vote for Obama
untrue… I think we need change in our country- and world- and Obama could be this change. I said COULD. But I
don’t think McCain will change anything, he’s Bush Jr. He votes 90% with Bush, which worries me because George
hasn’t been the most wonderful experience, though I don’t hate him like most Americans do. I think he’s made
pretty stupid decisions concerning Iraq, but that is just my opinion. I think we should vote for whoever we
think will glorify God in all their decisions. I really think we shouldn’t make others’ decisions for whom they will vote for in the elections by telling them they won’t be “true” Christians if they don’t vote for McCain. Just a few thoughts, feel free to (constructively) criticize. Sorry if this post is messed-up looking, the text box is a little off-center on my computer. =)
Hi Holly
The Change Obama suggests is a change to socialism? His life, the mentors in his life, his associates, his Senate voting record and the programs that Obama suggests in his campaign prove that he is a Far Left socialist.
Socialism has failed in any nation it has ever been tried in and it always ends with dictatorship and tyranny. So why should any American want to bring in a system that will destroy the most prosperous and free nation on earth?
It is easy to talk about change but it is rather difficult to bring any significant change while the same establishment controls congress. You also need to know what you want the country to change from and to. Do you? What specifically would you have wished that Bush did that McCain should not do if elected?
If anyone wants real change they might start by getting rid of those who step by step are taking away our constitutional Republic. Have you ever read our Constitution and Bill of Rights? Do they even teach it to you in school? If people want real change for the better in this nation they need to turn to God and not outlaw His word and prayer to Him in our schools and government.
It seems to me that you are just repeating what you have heard from the liberal education system, the liberal media and the party line. You ought to know that Bush can do nothing without funding from Congress and as stupid as some of his decisions were after Saddam was removed (Sending troops to take out Saddam in the first place was with full support from the American people and Congress) the suggestions of most Democrats that we pull out of Iraq and let it disintegrate into a haven for terrorism against us is frankly insane. By the way, you don’t hear the liberals talking much about Iraq anymore because they were proven wrong. Iraq is now on its way to becoming a neutral nation in the Middle East and it will soon become prosperous.
The real reason I say true Christians cannot vote for Obama is because of the position that Obama takes against the clear teachings of the Bible. One cannot say they are a Bible believing Christian and vote for someone who supports the abominations of abortion and the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act and if your not a Bible believing Christian then you have no foundation to stand on to even call yourself a Christian.
Thanks for your input.
does that mean if the devil said he was against abortion and the defensive marriage act we should vote for him?
The Devil would be the liar that he is if he claimed to be against abortion and the defense of marriage since he is the one promoting abortion and the destruction of the God given covenant of marriage between a man and a woman. The Devil promotes his doctrines through his own people and thus the tree is known.
True Christians should know those who promote doctrines of devils because what these people say is contrary to what God said in His revealed word, what is displayed in His natural created order and what is abhorrent to the Spirit within a Christian.
You honestly might believe they are both doing this and then you should not be voting for anyone. Obama by his positions on these things and by his alliances has made it very clear whose doctrines he is promoting.
Ha, my newspaper made a “25 things you may not know about McCain” My favorites:
1. He has a stuffed dancing hamster on display in his Senate office.
3. He says his pet peeve is politicians who talk too much. (He admits that he’s guilty, too, sometimes.)
7. He carries a lucky penny in his pocket.
13. He describes himself as “a person who is mostly normal.”
And, the weirdest and scariest: 21. He doesn’t email. He doesn’t surf the Web. He likes to read the newspaper in print. He’s attached to his cell phone.
Just thought I’d put a few down.
Maybe you’re right, but I must first point out PRO-life means not just anti-abortion, but also anti-war, which McCain is not. He’s like Bush, he wants to keep the war going, even when it’s going nowhere. Except the cemeteries.
I think you’re in real danger of redefining Christianity. The guidelines to being a Christian are as follows: You believe that you are a sinner, and that the only way you can be cleansed and allowed into heaven is through Christ Jesus.
Your vote has nothing to do with whether you are a Christian or not, though some candidates may appeal to more Christians than others. You can’t tell people that they won’t be Christians if they vote for Obama, that is WRONG, and it’ll ward off anyone considering becoming a Christian pretty quickly if their political views are contradicting to yours. Just be careful what you say.
Have a great Sunday, Holly
What makes you think that Christians should be against just wars? The Bible does not teach that. America decided to go to war in Iraq by more than a 80 percent majority to overthrow evil Saddam. Things did not go as well as we envisioned so the Liberals wanted to cut and run which would have ensure larger wars in the future and provided a haven for terrorists. Even most Democrats are no longer suggesting that we stop the Iraq war when we have obviously turned the corner in Iraq and the people of Iraq are gaining control of the religious radicals.
You say the war is going nowhere but just about everyone disagree with you. Your speaking like those who talked about the war a year ago before the big change in Iraq took place. Bush and McCain were proven to be correct and Obama was proven wrong in calling for an immediate withdrawal. Perhaps it is time to update to the present reality of the situation in Iraq? Would you also suggest that we stop the war in Afghanistan and allow the terrorists to have free reign in that nation so they could train for new 9/11 attacks with nukes this time? Do you really want to live in that kind of a world in the future?
I do not define Christianity the Bible does and you are totally correct in what you say as to how one becomes a Christian but the Bible also gives guidelines how Christians need to live after they become a Christian. If a person is not living by the guidelines that define a Christian why should we consider them to be Christians? In Obama’s case his statement of faith is even contrary to Christianity. He said he believes in pluralism and Universalism and that belief is contrary to Jesus words that said that He is the only way to God.
Your vote may not determine if you are a Christian but how you vote could determine if you actually believe what you say you claim. As James said, faith without works is dead. I also said in my title that all true Christians “should” vote for McCain Palin I did not say that all true Christian would. Obviously they will not.
A non believers political views may not be that of a Christian but that does not mean that we are not to have political views. We we are to be good examples on this earth. It is God who draws people to Christ not mine or anyone’s correct or incorrect political views.
Have a good day as well, I have a family outing to attend shortly.
Don,
You’ve brought up many important points, some of which I haven’t a slightest clue about… kudos to you. =)
I think that the majority of wars today shouldn’t be fought. There are some that are justified, like World War 2, where we HAD to stop Hitler. But lots of times we make war over small, earthly things such as land, or we have mini-wars amongst ourselves about small things. So I guess not all war is bad, but we should very carefully discern whether something is big/important enough to take human lives.
In response to your faith without actions comment… I don’t know, I don’t think we can possibly know while we’re on earth. I know tons of people who have a yearning for God (including myself), and want to serve him because we love him, but unfortunately, there are also people who serve because they’re afraid of going to hell and/or don’t have a very secure faith (myself 9 1/2 months ago). And then there are many that say they’re Christian because they’re born into a Christian family. Or they accept Christ as savior and don’t do any follow-up: no praying, church, scripture… my uncle has a faith like that, unfortunately.
I can’t vote, but it’s very clear to me that this will be a very close election for a number of reasons. One being that Obama is black, which may stir up many people. I worry that if Obama is elected, he’ll be at risk for many attacks or murder attempts. I sincerely hope that doesn’t happen, no one should be persecuted because of their skin color, or any other factor on the outside. Also, many people have family members in Iraq and will be extremely upset if they aren’t pulled out right away.
I don’t know what to do in the war. We obviously, as you said, can’t pull out immediately; we can’t just leave the country like that. But we can’t leave the troops there and let even more get killed… my mom has an excellent, impossible idea that we could get all the peace-loving people out, then nuke the country. Sadly, this is impossible for many reasons. One being that you can’t tell a peace-loving person by their cover. But I know that whatever happens is God’s will, and my favorite verse that hangs on my bedroom door backs that up:
Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.”
In His love, Holly
Here’s my take. I’m speaking as a non-American and a lifelong resident of the country which capital is the seat of both NATO and the EU, just so you know.
Holly, you’re right, you need change in your country. But not the “change” Obama will bring. His policies are shortsighted and will turn the U.S. in the nth European-style socialist state and that is about the last thing I would want to see the U.S. becoming. And frankly, people like Obama will not bring unity. If anything, Obama is already polarizing your nation between those who hold on to the principles of the Constitution and Bill of Rights as envisioned by your Founding Fathers (Conservatives), and those who belief these principles are “relative” and “interpretative” (Liberals) – according to the latter category, certain principles like liberty, justice, marriage, the individual and the role of the State are changeable and can be redefined according to the times we live in.
And that is a fundamental mistake. Do you have any idea of how unique your Constitution is in this world? It is why I have always admired the United States and the reason why I would still like to live in the U.S. at the moment of speaking. I know it is not perfect and mistakes have been made mostly due to ignorance. But even ignorance is due to the limitations of men. Mankind is fallible and since government is made up of fallible men, it cannot change society for the better.
Your U.S. Constitution is the only constitution which recognizes this problem. It calls not only for checks between the different branches of the State (which is also true of many other constitutions) but it also grants citizens the right to reinstall the original Constitution in the case government discards your liberty and subjects individuals to their sole authority. In Europe you can’t even defend your property or your families’ physical well being without getting treated like a murderer. Government takes away half of what you earned and then they still tax the hell out of what’s left of your wage. Your business will be successfull if you have good gov’t contacts but you can forget about freedom because if you don’t listen to what the trade unions and the gov’t demand – you’re essentially screwed. You cannot determine who you hire and who you fire anymore and you cannot set your own conditions without risking to get prosecuted on charges of racism and discrimination. I thought we were to judge people based on their abilities and character, not their race? Government with its multicultural, self-loathing policies is the real source of and fuel for racism, not us regular people.
Also, there’s no private education – even Catholic schools are really gov’t-controlled so that means they too have to teach you gov’t sponsored crap to brainwash kids into thinking that homosexuality is okay, diversity is to be encouraged, and other cultures are basically superior to our Western civilization. We have to respect people who can openly state they hate our civilization, yet Biblical Christians who do not want to establish a theocracy get ridiculed and get treated as “Fascists” for opposing immorality – because “we” somehow embody our nations’ pasts as “brutal White colonists” and “retarded” fundamentalists from the Dark Ages. You also cannot discipline your children in my country since spanking is considered domestic violence. Men are demanded to behave like wussies and support Feminist causes of equality between men and women on the workfloor – so what happens is that the children get their education in gov’t-sponsored day care centers instead of from their parents and they grow up like arrogant, violent and spoiled brats with no manners and no sense of dignity or respect for other people’s property.
Part II
Obama will bring you such hate speech laws and this sort of destructive culture which means that people like Don, myself or even you, Holly, may get sued for telling people that Jesus Christ alone offers salvation and that He alone is the Way to God. Not the Buddha, Muhammad, the Kabballah or Yoga. We will be persecuted for offering a message of freedom of sin, repentance and everlasting life, to those under bondage to sin and false religions such as homosexuals, Muslims, prostitutes, alcoholics and so on. Rather we will have to condone sin in order not to compromise “unity” among the people. Born-again Christians serve either God or the Moloch, they cannot serve both because the interests of the two conflict. Obama and most Democrats today are running on a platform that actively pushed for the normalization of such sinful practises as gay marriage, teen sex, abortions and taking away the Constitutional rigth of American families to defend their families against evildoers. He believes that the European style government is better – that means government and taxation as the solution to all problems.
Quite frankly I think it’s hypocritical of the Dems to bash George W. Bush. They supported the War on Terror and the majority supported the invasion of Iraq back in 2003 because all available intelligence at that suggested that Saddam Hussein had links to Al Qaeda and was working on a weapons of mass destruction program. How would they have responded to the 9/11 attacks? People like Obama like to blame Western civilization but they ignore that Jihad is fundamental to Islam. Just because he’s lived in Indonesia for a couple of years (he’s probably even too young to remember much about it) doesn’t make him qualify as an Islam expert?! It would have been a different story if he had actually grown up in, say, Saudi Arabia.
They are also saying that Bush’s free trade policies have hurt the U.S. and that oil companies with ties to the Bush administration have caused the economic decline. While I too am critical of some of his policies in this area, I fail to see how free trade in itself is bad for America and how oil companies are the cause of the sorry economical state of the U.S. if it has been determined that biofuel crops are behind it for the most part? What I believe is wrong is a policy of “free” trade with Communists nations like China that do not have a free market system themselves. We basically fund the Chinese government this way and since the Chinese markets are not free, they lack innovation, competitiveness and quality. That’s why China is one of the largest producers of counterfeit products that are currenlty ruining Western companies and posing a threat to national health and security. However, I have never heard the Liberals on this issue. They bash Bush for his ties to the Saudis and oil companies but at the same time they are soft on the Chinese communists that persecute true Christians and supply the North Korean government.
They say they want the U.S. to be self-reliant by promoting alternative energy resources thus becoming independent from economic ties to Arab oil producing states. The reality is that most “environmentally friendly” alternative forms of energy are not economically viable. You will still need oil and other “fossil” fuels like carbon, gas or uranium. Environmental laws are keeping you from using your own national resources hence requiring you to look overseas. Utter self-reliance is utterly bad for the United States – look at what economic self-reliance has turned Communist Cuba or North Korea into. Moreover, the truth of the matter is that global warming is not caused by human activity. Several centuries ago, Vikings used to have colonies in southern Greenland until its climate got much harsher and they evenutally had to migrate. Climate science is relatively young and many factors such as the role of our Sun are still not quite understood. If you take a closer look at the Environmentalist movement, you will soon find that they have an agenda of their own that is not driven by facts but based on a profoundly anti-Christian ideology. That ideology is, however, compatible with the relativist, government-is-the-solution-to-all-our-problems outlook of Liberals like Obama who are more concerned with “unity” and economic equality than the Liberty your Founding Fathers fought for against the British Empire.
The day Obama gets elected and turns America into a EU-like Socialist state in which the individual is subject to the State, I will no longer consider immigrating to the United States. Unless some U.S. states secede and offer a viable alternative to me.
God bless.
Whereas previously, a Down’s child could be born without the prior knowledge of the mother, going forward, a parent with a Down’s child will likely have made a conscious choice to have that child. As prenatal testing for trisomy 21 becomes ubiquitous, Down’s children (and eventually those with other genetic disorders) will increasingly become symbols of faith – a freak show meant to communicate the “family values” of their parents. The children will become public sacrifices made by their parents for their faith. They will be a symbol of religious reverence in the same way as the scarred backs of Catholics who flagellate themselves, or Buddhist monks who set themselves on fire, or Sunni Muslims who mutilate their girl’s genitals or Shiites who bloody their children’s heads with swords.
Genuine moral virtues – such as integrity, honesty, and productivity are not useful as evidence of religious virtue. To the extent that their practical benefit is visible to everyone, they do not represent the special domain of religion. To demonstrate religious virtue, it is necessary to sacrifice authentic moral values in favor of “religious” values. The particular object of the sacrifice is not important – there is nothing particularly “biblical” about being prolife (the Christian bible just as easily supports the opposite position.) If Christian fundamentalists decided that cutting of one’s hand sufficed as proof of moral virtue, they would be wrong to do so, but not much more so than the numerous other ways that people find to be self-destructive.
What is really vicious about fundamentalists in America is that the prey on the most vulnerable –poor pregnant young girls and women, those dying from painful terminal illnesses, the loved ones of brain-dead patients, — and children afflicted with terrible genetic illnesses. One can at least grasp the moral indifference with which a fundamentalist can force a single young mother to abandon her goals and dreams and condemn her and her child to poverty. But what can we say about a parent that chooses a life of suffering upon their child? If we are morally outraged by child rapists, how should we judge a parent who chooses a lifetime of suffering on their own child?
The only reason I have allowed the demented comment of HeroicLife to remain on this post is to show how some liberals rationalize their own insanity.
HeroicLife, your comment confused me. What does Downs Syndrome have to do with this? It is a very important issue (I love Downs kids and adults, they’re so sweet), but where did you make a connection to the topic? And there are more chronic, serious illnesses you could have talked about- especially HIV/AIDS, various cancers, and other diseases that affect a ton of people. And personally, I don’t think that situation will take place. I think it’s more likely that if a parent finds out their child is a Downs kid, they will abort them, unfortunately. That’s obviously wrong, but it might bring a better outcome in the long run than it would have been for inexperienced or bad parents to raise a special-needs kid. But the best idea, in my opinion, would be to let someone adopt the little baby. I would adopt/foster, if I were older…
I know the election is very important, but we should also remember to keep our eyes fixed on heaven and God’s plan, not on earthly things. That is very hard, but try to remember that everything’s under control, God knows all.
Thanks so much for your input, el nasrani. I’m obviously still figuring my political views, it really helps to have people pitch in who have different perspectives and experiences. =)
God bless all you guys!
-Holly
Hi Holly
The connection Heroticlife makes with the topic is that Governor Palin chose to have a Downs Syndrome baby rather than abort it. He implies that these babies would be better off not being born. That is an insult to all kids born with a disability and all parents that raise one. He also twists the truth by implying that being pro life burdens the woman and subjects the child to a lifetime of suffering. It is twisted logic he would fit right in with the best of Hitler’s fascists.
How can aborting a special needs child bring a better outcome in the long run Holly? We are all special needs children in the final analysis. So should each couple now decide who lives and who dies according to their own standards or the standards of these fascists? how demented! Should they then be allowed to abort anyone with a bad gene or anyone they think will not live up to their own or societies expectations, or a child that might burden them? Is that all that matters in life? Selfishness!
What about the right of all children to find salvation, purpose and completeness in God? What about their eternal soul? He degrades human life to that of an animal but that is what godless fascist liberals do.
God Bless you Holly!
Not only that but let’s be honest here – what percentage of abortions happen to preserve the mother’s life, how many are carried out due to incest, rape or some horrific genetic deficiency? Virtually none. The overwhelming majority of abortions are due to young people having unprotected sex and not preserving their virginity for the time they marry. Why is AIDS so common among homosexuals and the poor in many developing nations? Why is it so prevelant in Africa’s richest and most developed nation, South Africa? Why are abortions common among minority groups in America? Could it not be that “different” but immoral lifestyles and deviant cultural practises are to be blamed? That, and/or the lack of a father or a mother?
The reason why Conservatives in the Western world want to preserve the most ancient God-given institution of marriage as a union between a man and a woman has nothing to do with religious extremism or imposing our religious views on others. It ‘s a matter of protecting the nation’s health, economy and the people’s general well being and security. The family is the fundamental unit of society. It is there that people ought to be raised and corrected and learn to love, forgive and respect one another and to be honest, faithful people of good character. A few decades from now virtually nobody would have questioned any of this but today you are said to be a fundamentalist for having such an outlook on the family.
There are Christians out there working with prostitutes, homosexuals, drug addicts and so many others who like anyone are living under bondage to sin. Many of the people they work with do realize they’re wrong and they do want freedom. Christ offers us everlasting life and genuine freedom. That is, freedom from the chains of sin which leads to eternal damnation. What is more warming than to see a pedophile or a serial killer repent of his or her sinful deeds and warning others not to take the broad road to perdition? Or more recently, the story of a former Hamas member named Mosab Hassan Yousef (you can find an interview and video on Foxnews.com) who used to hate the Jews before becoming a Christian and moving to the United States to escape death threats (apostates face execution in Islam)? This latter person as a born-again Christian and former Muslim would be considered a religious fundamentalist by some in Liberal America. Don’t you think that is insane? There’s not a single place in the world where there’s so much religious freedom as in America, yet some people seem to want to do away with all that.
Pt II (spam filter doesn’t like long messages it seems)
Many homosexuals are the victim of child molestation and abuse. Most homosexuals don’t live as long as heterosexuals. Yet Liberals defend their lifestyle and do nothing about the underlying causes. Christians are said to be promoting hate while the only thing we would want is for these people to be saved and freed from their lifestyles that not only destroy themselves but drag so many others into misery.
Quezon, the 2nd president of the Philippines said that “Social Justice is far more beneficial when applied as a matter of sentiment, and not of law”. He was right on. Undoubtedly many Liberals or Socialists are sincere and have good intentions. But so were Hitler, Stalin and Mao and so many others. Their outlook is based upon the belief that mankind can improve itself by its own will and that government is a force of good, that the past is irrelevant and that nothing is absolute and sacred. But Christians know that man must be changed at heart in order to please God and that God’s will for us is unchangeable. Government cannot change people, it can only force people to “change” and government cannot look into other people’s hearts. There is a distinction to be made between the roles of the individual Christian and the State. There’s also a distinction between the role of the Church (the whole of believers) and the State.
An example of that would be the situation in the Middle East with Iran. As much as I love Iran and its people, I believe we have an obligation to protect our own people’s security and therefore we must take out Iran’s nuclear facilities. Nowhere the Bible states that we cannot defend ourselves as a nation against evil forces by means of warfare. Yet at the same time, Christ told us to love and pray for our enemies. That’s right, we do have enemies! But we must at all times remember that our fight as individual Christians and as a Church is first and foremost a spiritual fight against evil. I hate Islam itself because it is a deceptive twist on the truth but I do not hate Muslims as individuals because they are equally deserving of hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and not any more sinful than anyone of us before we were saved. It should not be a crime to offend anyone by stating the Truth. It is a crime against humanity to keep people from bringing the Gospel to others.
As human beings we were born into a sinful world. Upon salvation, we are taken out of this world to become part of God’s heavenly kingdom. We still live in this world but we are called not to partake in its evil ways. Obama talks about hope and unity which may all be well intentioned and sound nice.. but abortion, homosexuality, hate speech laws and government taking away parents’ rights to raise their children in a Christian way are not “nice” and are not changes for the better. We ought to love the sinner and bring the Gospel to them but we cannot seek unity with those who promote sinfulness, even if they do so in the name of Christ. “For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?” — 2 Corinthians 6:14
Furthermore:
Matt. 10:34-39: “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.”
Just think of the millions of our brothers and sisters who are being persecuted by Islam, Hinduism, Communism and so on for their belief in Christ.
Ephesians 5:1-7: “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them.”
God bless !
Don, I never thought of myself being a special-needs child. Thanks for that perspective. =) It’s true, we all are.
I don’t know, I’m sure there’s some situation we haven’t thought of with the abortion subject. I didn’t mean we should abort special-needs kids. I love those kids. They’re amazingly sweet and amazing. When I grow up, I want to do foster care or adoption for those types of kids. And I don’t believe that most abortion is justified, but try to keep your mind open for the rare instances where it’s almost an okay alternative…
el nasrani- I wish what you’re saying was true. I am totally there with your view, but I think many people- Christians in particular- close their minds as soon as they hear certain things/words. I think many people hate those who behave badly, instead of hating their behavior and loving the person. I’ve visited so many churches in the past 9 months (finally found a good church home for us), and I go to a Christian school where as soon as they hear the word “abortion” or “homosexual” they get this hateful, “you’re-such-a-heathen” look on their faces. I totally agree, the way abortion is being used is totally wrong. If teenagers are going to have sex (ew!), at least use protection, or what people call “protection.”
I love those verses you posted, by the way. I should memorize them. =)
God bless you all and have an awesome day!

P.S. My post was a little scattered, sorry. =)
Wow… I have no idea how this will change the election, but Sarah Palin just announced her 17-year-old daughter is 5 months pregnant and is marrying the husband. Strange.
It is not going to change anything other than possibly point out the fact of life that women were designed by God to marry and have children at a younger age then our modern western society considers acceptable.
We pressure girls to wait to get married, but on the other hand we encourage them to have sex through media, through our sex education and through peer pressure. The system’s answer to the permissiveness and the brainwashing to sexualize them is to give them birth control pills. Then if some should still become pregnant our society tells them to selfishly abort their own children and the parents want to drive off the father as being too young to bear his reponsiblity. Had my sister done that at 17 she would have one less son.
Frankly, the facts of life are that many women should be marrying at 16 or 17 but in our society it is no longer acceptable to be a young mother, you have to first have a carrier. Even Christians have bought into this fallacy and I know that some will disagree with me. That however does not change the facts of biology. Many believe that Mary was 15 or 16 when she had Jesus because that was the common age for marriage in biblical times and it still is in some societies.
HeroicLife, are you going to make just one comment and then leave? I can’t believe you are coming on this site and spitting out such vitrol on an impressionable young woman searching for answers. I was blessed with two children while I served in the U.S. Military. Both times that my wife found out she was pregnant, the military doctors insisted we have genetic testing done on our kids before they were born. Their reason was that if something was wrong, we would be able to make “tough decisions.” We repeatedly asked them what tough decision is there to make? It is a life inside of a woman, nothing else. Democrats and idiots like you are so quick to point to science to prove everything and deny the existence of a loving Creator, yet you ignore the most obvious science out there. I don’t care if a child has a disease or not. Hook up an ultra sound monitor to any pregnant woman and tell me that isn’t a living human being inside of there. You can watch that child move, wave, cry, kick etc. But it is a choice to murder that child because the child doesn’t fit your definition of perfect? Who are you to play God? What right do you have to say who lives or dies?
Holly, I also went through the public school system, so I know exactly what you’re going through even though I may not be in the same state as you. I remember in 7th and 8th grade Social Studies classes learning about Mohammed and Islam and Cunfucion (or however it’s spelled). I remember learning the stories about Allah. The whole point of the public school system is to get you to question your beliefs. I remember thinking in class while learning about Islam that it sounded very close to Christianity, and maybe it was the same except that it had different names because of languages or whatever. Mr. Obama is an accomplished African- American, and for that he should be proud. What he should not be proud of however, is spitting in the face of God countless times on National T.V. I encourage you to watch the Rick Warren interview on the net if you haven’t seen it. While I don’t think that politics should have brought into a church, you will see exactly where Mr. Obama stands on issues that should be important to every Christian today. The Bible commands us to hate this world and look forward to Eternity in Heaven. Mr. Obama says some great things. He’s going to cut taxes, he’s going to give more money to student loans and education, but you have to look at what he’s trying to get you to give up for his “compromise” to give you ‘more.’ He thinks it’s okay for a baby to be left to die after a botched abortion. The Bible says thou shalt not kill, and also says about children that it’s better to put a millstone around ones neck and throw oneself into a river than to hurt a child. But Mr. Obama- who says he’s a Christian- thinks it’s above his paygrade. Mr. Obama will kill the Defense of Marriage Act and is against the California Constitutional Ammendment banning same sex marriage. As a “Christian” who says he believes in the Word of God, Mr. Obama should know full well the story of Sodom and what happened to that city and others because of the abominations going on then. Mr. Obama, if he is a Christian, should not be so willing to spit in the face of God and condone something that God has destroyed cities for.
As you are on the Prophetic Years website, I think you know that your Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ is coming soon. The Bible is not just a bunch of fairy tales like they teach you in school. The Bible is the most historically accurate document in the world, but your teachers aren’t going to tell you that. If you have questions that you don’t know answers to, I encourage you to seek out your parents or youth group leader. If what they are saying doesn’t seem right, look up the answers yourself in the Bible. Email Don, he is more than willing to answer any questions you may have. I’m 29 years old and he’s gotta be sick of hearing from me since I found his website! Please think for yourself though, and don’t let anyone ever try to convince you that God’s Word is wrong. In this day it is getting to the point that you only have free speech if you go against everything that is taught in the Bible. You may not be popular for taking the high road and keeping God’s word to heart, but this world is heading to hell on a highway. Our time here is short, and eternity is more important than anything going on here. God Bless You, and I will be praying for you.
Thanks Emanuel. I went to a public school for 7 years and went through that, and not the teachers but the students led me astray. But I never had a really awesome, fun faith until January 2008. But going to public school was strange. I’d be the only one out of 60 praying at lunch (out of 120 in 6th grade), and I’d ask the teachers if they went to church and they’d tell me after class or have to whisper it. It’s sad. Thankfully, I got so depressed in 6th grade because of the profanity and violence that my parents decided I should go to a Christian school in 7th. It’s been the best choice of my life. I’m in 8th grade now, and the kids certainly aren’t perfect, but they generally have a larger perspective and behave better than the kids at my old school.
Click on HeroicLife’s name, it’ll go to his article. That post is only an excerpt from it, I’ve been posting against about 3 people who believe that Downs Syndrome kids and adults are worth as much as cattle… it’s terrible how things get twisted in this world. There are so many who don’t know the truth, and/or refer to it as “jesus stuff” that brainwashed people believe.

Hi Holly,
So your saying HeroicLife is a troll who goes from Blog to Blog posting parts of his demented fascist pre-written posts as if they were comments.
In that case it is better that you don’t click on his picture and go to his full article it will only encourage him and help his blog in the rankings.
I am alarmed by your posts about Christians being morally obligated to support Palin. You take a monolithic view of the Christian faith.
We should all be concerned about a takeover by the far left.
But what about a takeover by the far right? Shouldn’t take alarm us too?
To you, I pose the following questions:
1. Is war a religious issue?
2. Is poverty a religious issue?
3. Is being good stewards of our environment a religious issue?
4. Is protecting young children who have lost a parent or who are being raised in single-parent homes because their mothers made a mistake a religious issue?
5. Is making sure that all Americans–poor or rich, young or old–have access to quality healthcare a religious issue?
6. Is how we treat the elderly a religious issue?
Christians can support McCain-Palin. I understand why they might do that. But Christians can support Obama-Biden too.
How many verses in the Bible discuss abortion and homosexuality?
And how many verses in the Bible discuss poverty and how we should treat the poor?
Your view of the faith is monolithic and hateful.
Read more of my thoughts at ChristiansAgainstPalin.blogspot.com
There is only one Christian faith and that is defined by the Bible.
I might be concerned about a takeover from the Far Right if that was actually a danger. The problem today is socialism and fascism which is Far Left in spite of any brainwashing you may have received. In fact, Nazis were national socialists. Just about any major dictator tyrant that you can think of over the last seventy years were socialists.
The Far Right would be those who do not want Federal government interfering in their lives at all. There are few on the far right in this country even though the liberal press wants to label all conservative Christians as Far Right. Its all part of the brainwashing of America by the liberal elite. Christian conservatives are not against government but we would rather have the opportunity to freely help people ourselves and not have government dictate what we have to do with our money through government mandated wealth transfer programs that never solves the problems.
Now to answer your many questions.
1. Is war a religious issue? It can be, but also understand that Christianity is not really a religion, it is a spiritual rebirth by the Creator and a personal walk with God. If you are really asking if war is a Christian issue, It can be. But there are just wars. The Old Testament is full of Instructions for Israel to wage war on their godless neighbors. I do not think that doing half the job and pulling out is the Christian thing to do but Obama does. I also am tired of liberal hindsight. Over eighty percent of this nation supported that war including most Democrats. So why would they think going to war would not cost them anything? Now don’t give me the Bush lied baloney. Congress had the same intelligence information that Bush had and if we did not go in we would still have Saddam or his son to deal with.
2. Is poverty a religious issue?. I do not want to keep repeating myself so I will take it that you are asking me if poverty is a Christian issue. Christians by nature should be helping the poor. They do not need godless government to tell them how they must do it. Much of the government mandated help for the poor goes to bureaucrats and only makes a culture of permanent dependents that become dependent on the government. Some third world nations have finally come to the realization that foreign aid by Christian missionaries was actually harmful because their people would become dependents. We have prime examples of government dependent generations in our own inner cities.
3. We should be good stewards of our environment and we have come a long way in doing that in this nation. You should have been around in the 50’s when the lakes, streams, and air were terribly polluted. Don’t confuse global warming hype with being good stewards. There is no man cause global warming and I have scores of articles on this blog proving that under the “global warming” category.
4. Goes back to the same answer as 2. Christians do and should help those in need. That really would be a function of the local church if we actually had a real Christian nation. The problem with government doing this for people of good will is that they treat the symptoms but never get to the root of the problems and end up perpetuating the problem so that you now have single moms bringing up girls that will be single moms or aborting their children.
5. Nobody is satisfied with health care in this country but Obama does not have the answer he just adds to the problem. The real problem is the insurance and governmental layer that adds at least a third to the cost of health care for everyone. I actually wrote an article on how we can fix health care in America
http://www.thepropheticyears.com/comments/Health%20care%20in%20America%20is%20a%20national%20disgrace.htm
6. Goes back to the answer in 2 and 4 and I might add that families ought to take care of their parents in their old age as much as they can instead of just warehousing them. This is not done outside the West.
Christians can only support Obama-Biden if they do not know their Bible. Obama and Biden believe in secular socialism and they are also on the wrong side of every moral issue. You have no idea what the Left will bring in when they control all branches of government. They will censor Christianity. As I write, the liberals have hate speech laws attached to a critical defense bill that will do just that.
How many verses in the Bible discuss abortion and homosexuality?
If God creates life it is obvious that killing that life is an abomination to Him. People in ancient biblical days used to sacrifice their children to appease their false God’s and for that God told Israel to spare none of them. You also know that legal abortion is recent so why would it be addressed in the Bible? There are sufficient numbers of versus in the Bible against Homosexuality to know that God considers that practice to be an abomination.
Look, I am not saying the sin of homosexuality is the unforgivable sin but that is not the point. No sin can be legitimized in a Christian society. Why don’t we have grand thief parades or pedophile parades or corrupt politician parades and just celibate all sinners? Paul gave instruction to those in the Church that were flaunting their sin to the public. He said, put them out of the Church. There are other reasons why homosexuality should not be legitimatized in a decent society. Just the disease issue alone would ban any other practice that puts millions at a deadly health risk. Homosexual practice is also destructive to the God ordained family unit. You have no idea how confused the next generation will be without male and female parents.
Have you even read the Bible? There is not one verse in the Bible that says that government should be robbing the rich to take care of the poor. Yet Obama wants to make it a government mandate by tax and spend programs. Doing that will only insure more poverty. It makes no sense.
You Liberals like to throw that word hateful around a little too easy to anyone that does not want government doing what Christians and people of good will should be doing by themselves. History proves that when you empower government to take control of a nation the way you Liberals suggest it ends in economic disaster and tyranny. Now bringing that to a nation is really being hateful even if you do not know what you are doing.
Why would I or anyone else read your thoughts on your blog? You are part of the problem not the solution?
Don, just a sec. You’re getting a little too carried away; this is a presidential election. Pretty big deal, but God’s bigger. He knows what’s going to happen, so at least I’m fine with that. But I suppose it would matter more to me if I could vote…
And I think that you’re addressing the “problem”- as you have phrased it- incorrectly. Attack the behavior, not the person.
I agree with you, we shouldn’t need government to force us to do nice things for others. But I’d like to point out that our world, unfortunately, doesn’t think about others first, they think about themselves. I’m not saying government should require citizens to do stuff for the poor, or take away the rich people’s money, I’m just saying that you seem to be portraying the world, or even just the USA, as a Christian environment. It is NOT. Try praying in a public school, or just going up to a random person and asking them what they think about Christianity.
-Holly
Most of what I said was answering her liberal arguments that were given in the form of questions with my conservative Christian answers. You have to identify people when you are addressing the issues that they are running on. Also asking this person if she ever read the Bible and identifying her as a liberal are not attacks
I also do not care much what you think about the way I am expressing myself, Holly. You are thirteen and you have not been a Christian long enough to instruct me on these issues. Correct your peers if you believe you know something, not your elders, even the Bible tells you that.
If you have been reading my blogs you would not think that I think the world or the USA is Christian. Obviously governments are in a place to do some good. However, they do not do good by creating greater evils. There are plenty of people who will help the poor in this world and many of them are not even Christians but when government comes in and robs people to transfer their wealth to other people it is evil.
Some of the greatest giving in the history of this world was not done by government decree it was done by people of good will who gave to those who just went through some calamity. You seem to imply that nobody gives anything anymore and government must rob them to make them give. That simply is not true. Free will charity giving is still by far the greatest force of good to help the down trodden on this earth. If you take the money from Christians and give it to government to do what Christians would have done better you do not allow the Christians to be a witness and an example to the world. That is the hidden Satanic motivation behind socialism.
Do you know who gives the most freely in this country it is the Christian Conservatives by far. Most of the liberals want government to make everyone else give because they do not seem to have the heart to do it by themselves.
Obama is going to help the poor we are told, but before Obama got the idea to run for President he gave almost nothing to charity or his church. That fact should say wonders. Lets not also forget his “bleeding heart” running mate. Here are his generous donation figures.
“Despite income ranging from $210,432 – $321,379 over the ten-year period, the Bidens have given only $120 – $995 per year to charity, which amounts to 0.06% – 0.31% of their income.”
In contrast most religious Americans give about 3 percent of their income to charity and Evangelicals 4 percent.
Our nation, the so called Christian nation, has become a wicked nation and this is coming from a Gentile. We start unnecessary wars(Iraq and Afghan) do air strikes on innocent women and children,(Afghan) do not keep our promises(Russia) allow innocent people to die in natural disasters(Katrina) invade other nations w/o
permission to look for “terrorist”(Pakistan) and the Christians of this nation (Republicans) mock the glorious name of their God and his son Jesus Christ by worshipping and lusting the pathological liar Jezebel(Palin) and that to me is the worst for what is the difference between a she devil and a woman who is a fake pathological lying Pharisee Christian? Why do you Christians bother knocking on our doors to convert us Gentiles and heathens to twice the sons of hell that you are? and then the Christians tell us don’t trust those Muslims or Jews or any other religions come to know our God and our Messiah but you must be kidding you don’t even know them and your mouth is the only thing that worships them. I am glad Palin and McCain came along for they show that you Christians are liars and war mongers and adulterers, and some of the worst people with evil spirits who walk this nation! Jesus deserves better! this country deserves better! and at every election I vote for the Christian candidate but I have eaten the apple and my eyes are wide open now.
Yeah you have eaten the Obama-apple all right and you ought to know what happened the last time. You can lead a person to the True Vine but if people like you choose to be spiritual blind and eat the forbidden apple (lies from the pit of hell) you will reap the consequences. You are just another brainwashed Eve.
Does anyone care what Palin and Biden have to say anyway ?
I really hope we have a better choice on the conservative side in 2012 than Sarah Palin. She spends time talking to Rick Joyner on the phone-http://endtimespropheticwords.wordpress.com/2009/03/26/rick-joyner-on-sarah-palin-spiritual-mothers-and-dominionism/ and that cannot be good. Palin has a personality cult following similar to Obama’s.
