The Georgian’s are not in a good position. The U.S. really cannot help them. Geographically they simply live where Russia is going to do what they want. In the end I think they are going to have to realize that Russia has annexed their province and to fight them will turn out to be suicide. They better now hope the Russian’s don’t use this war as an excuse to re-annex all of Georgia. All of this of course will further deteriorate Russia’s relations with the U.S. Other former USSR countries have similar problems and might have similar fates they also have geographical areas in their sovereign nations that are now mostly populated by Russians.
Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili is expected to declare martial law within hours, according to the Georgian security council chief, Reuters reported.
This comes after Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice called on Russia Friday to halt attacks in South Ossetia, after Georgian troops entered the breakaway province in an attempt to crush separatist forces seeking control.
Rice’s announcement came as the European Union was working on a cease-fire with Georgia and South Ossetia separatists to end the violent conflict.
Georgia, a staunch U.S. ally, launched a surprise military offensive to retake South Ossetia and reportedly killed hundreds of people, triggering a ferocious counterattack from Russia that threatened to plunge the region into full-scale war.
We will win this war too. If you read history of Gergia you will see that we always been target for large countrys, but we still stand as a nation. Every georgian is a hero and if our country needs all of us go to war and fight agains anyone who wants to dominate us. I am not a politicion. I am just Gergian and I love my Georgia. One more thing. I would like to personally thank the Georgians for their support and for fighting with our men in Iraq. I did not even know about it until it was recently brought to my attention.
I was doing some research on what’s going on in Georgia with Russia because it just seems to have some underlying prophetic significance given statements in the book of Ezekiel and the importance of this region with regard to oil (look up Lindsey Williams with the word oil on Youtube), and found this article from 1999 that explains why this area north of Israel has become so prophetically important.
I don’t buy the oil company conspiracy theme of the article. But anyone else can read it and form their own conclusions and post their own views of this article here if they wish.
I too thank the Georgians for their support; I understand it has been quite substantial.
Nevertheless, I think they are about to join the new Russian empire. I highly doubt that Putin cares what anyone else in the world thinks.
We not going to join ever Russian empire. Putin is evel, he will pay for those 4000 solder’s life and for there family’s and friends sorrow and for everything. I don’t know how but he will pay.
