The claim that Noah’s Ark was found is being picked up by some of the major news outlets today. The article was on both Fox News and Drudge. I suppose the liberal news will either not cover it or they will make a big deal about the tiny doubt that still remains that this is really Noah’s Ark. I am sure the biblical concept of a ship near the top of a mountain as a result of a flood will make their eyes roll if they are ever told to report it.
I do not know if this will turn out to be the real deal or not. These claims have been made several times before. So we have to be careful here but it looks to me like it is the Ark. The wood structure was found on Mount Ararat where the Bible says it rested and it is at 13,000 feet. The artifacts at the site were carbon dated to be 4800 years old so it all fits. The Christian explorers say there is a 99.9 percent probability that this is Noah’s Ark and after further examination by the experts I suppose it will be proven. Nevertheless, even if it is proven will the world still choose to disbelieve and remain willingly ignorant about the great flood and the coming judgment?
I think 2 Peter Chapter 3 gives us the answer.
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
A key point of this book from Peter is to warn the Church that there would be ungodly counterfeit false teachers among them walking after their own lusts leading others astray in the last days. Notice that in this passage it is talking about last days scoffers that will scoff about any literal judgment and any literal promise about a second coming of Christ. Do we hear that in the mainline liberal and emergent churches of today? I think that view is gaining ground rapidly.
I do not think the mention of the flood in this passage is by accident. I think there is plenty of proof out there already that there was a world wide flood. The flood is in the record of many ancient world cultures and there is evidence that most earth land masses were under water. Finding Noah’s Ark will be icing on the cake. Nonetheless, the willingly ignorant will continue to dismiss the facts simply because they choose not to believe.
I have previously taught that Noah’s Ark would be found prior to the tribulation as a witnesses to the world because of what is written in this passage. Even the petrified stones of the boat will cry out the truth to the world before the end comes. The whole earth was judged in history with water because of man’s evil, and all Bible prophecy about a future judgment of fire on all who love evil will come to pass just as God said through His prophets.
If this is Noah’s Ark, it is one less of the very few remaining things that I think still need to be fulfilled before the tribulation begins.
It is also interesting that the artifacts tested to be 4,800 years old or from about 2790 BC. That is about 500 years older and earlier than a literal Masoretic Text dating if it is tallied without any gaps. The 2790 BC date agrees more with the earlier dating of the flood from the Septuagint and by the ancient Jewish historian Josephus. This is important because if the flood actually occurred several hundred years earlier than most fundamentalists claim, some valid arguments from archaeologists about known civilizations prior to 2300 BC would vanish as arguments against the universal flood.
It will be interesting to see how the unbelieving world will spin a huge ship found at 13,000 ft. They probably will say Mt Arafat was only a hill in biblical days or that a wind storm blew it up the mountain. Or maybe they will claim the ship evolved from Big Foot’s walking stick. More likely they just will willingly ignore that God once judged the world with a flood and I think this is what Peter implies in his prophecy. The ungodly will choose to ignore the fact that God dealt with evil on earth once before with a flood and He promises to judge ungodly men on earth once again at the end of the age by fire.
Update – After the report made nation news other Ark hunters claimed that this is a fraud. Of course they would have to claim that in order to keep receiving funds for their own expeditions. In time this latest claim of finding the Ark will either be proved or disproved. Whatever the truth about this latest claim, I still think the real Noah’s Ark will be found and documented before the end comes.
More interesting background information on this story, the flood and the hunt for Noah’s Ark.
Hi Don,
This finding has me very excited. I was wondering your opinion on “the shroud”.
Hi David,
I really have not formed an opinion on the shroud. Experts and believers do not agree. Ether way, I do not need a cloth to tell me that the Lord rose from the dead. Besides the many witnesses and all the accounts, His Holy Spirit testifies to me and millions or others that He certainly did rise.
The shroud is an enigma. It is not paint or dye and seems to be formed by light or an release of intense energy. I agree with one researcher who says, We don’t know what it is, but we do know it is not a medieval forgery. I have found myself leaning toward the idea that it could be the real deal. Not beyond the realm of possibility, but I’ll wait for more info.
This find on Mt. Ararat is very provocative! The pictures are pretty amazing! I agree with Don that we don’t really know as many have claimed to find it in the past. We’ll have to wait and see as more information on this find are released. I do know this, that somewhere there are the remains of the ark, whether petrified, fossilized or well-preserved. And I think the Lord will allow it to be found so He can say, “See, I told you so!”
The claim has already been disproven as a hoax. There’s been dozens of noahs arc ‘findings’, all fake. You christians will clutch at any straws and bigfoot theory to proove your god is real, and in over 2000 years you have not one piece of evidence, so just stick to your faith, and shut up.
Proven by who to be a hoax?
I do not need any Ark to know that my God is real. The huge amount of evidence available demands a verdict. Accept it or reject it but quit lying by saying there is no evidence. 🙄
Anyway, real or not, I will be following this ark finding very closely, still exciting.
@kevneto
I agree with everything you said regarding the ark and shroud.
@jooboo
It always amazes me the extent that “some” unbelievers will go to. Like going to an obvious Christian website, taking the time to read an article, read the comments under the article, and then post a mean spirited, hateful comment with absolutely no provocation.
Seems to be a lot of trouble to go through just to be petty.
Some people irritate the mess out of me. The thing is… there have been many biblical findings in the past….. the scientists haven’t been able to DISPROVE that they are the real things of christ. If no one can prove or disprove the findings maybe you NON BELIEVERS shouldnt be so quick to say its not real. Where did it come from if NO ONE can disprove it??????? ITs called the Lord CAN PUT ANYTHING ANYWHERE TO PROVE A POINT…. that he is real and he is coming back…. and NO we will not just stick to our faith and shut up as you say because our purpose is to STAND IN WHAT WE BELIEVE and open our mouths and preach it to people like you! We will be mocked and ridiculed but we know what the lord has promised us for standing up!
You’re a typical bully JooBoo.
Maybe the God you so disbelieve in had you find this site so you could find out the truth about Him.
And no we won’t shut up. Because we serve a loving God who is trying to snatch you from the fires of hell.
Anyway, back to the ark, there was an interesting article on http://www.bible-prophecy-today.com about it. The plot thickens!
Have a Good Friday everyone!
knowing our God – who is AWESOME in His ways….. I can’t help but think of:
Matt. 24:37-38: “But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. “For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,”
almost as if God in all His glory would say to us believers – “No – wait for it….” (with regard to the many other discoveries of the Ark) – only to reveal it truly – at the perfect time (He’s like that remember) – as a sign to us believers – “Yes, people, this really is it…..”
and dear jooboo – please, please, don’t worry, we’ll all be out of your hair soon enough…. and we won’t be around to bother you anymore……
Nice Don be like Jesus! Then why are you moving to the boonies in the Ozarks! To be salt and light you must be accessible! No, not internet accessible, but face to face accessible. Hiding in the Ozarks will not save you. Stay where God has you, preach the good news where you live and work! Not a knock on you, but we must stand our ground where ever God places us!
Remember….even with “in your face” evidence scoffers will scoff with nothing to back up what they say but their want of not believing. We don’t want to be mean to jooboo, but pray for him, I hope God can capture his soul and show him the love he can experience and that when we leave here we can all meet jooboo as well!
Scott,
I am not hiding in the Ozarks. We recently moved to the Ozarks from New York because my wife worked here before and a friend of hers asked her to take a medical position that he could no longer handle. There are plenty of unbelievers in the Ozarks for Christians to be salt and light to. By the way, I have been called to do that through this Internet ministry and it reaches more people than a missionary in China. It really does not matter where I am physically located.
I still think it is prudent for those who can live in the country to live there. It will become very difficult for those that chose to live in Sodom like Lot, but by all means live where you are led. Also, you can only be salt and light where salt and light is allowed. If you know you are living in the city of the damned at some point you probably should shake the dust of your feet and move on.
Actually Don, I think you are providing a worthwhile service to the prophetic community! The more I get involved the more I see a need for reliable sources. Not based on sensationalism or the latest headline but prophecy based on the bible. Too many are selling there wares and books and selling out for the dollar! You seem to have the right approach!! Many will be disappointed if the Lord doesn’t return soon (2012), me included, but if you look at it through your lens and time frame it gives you a different perspective. Hope all goes well in the Ozarks!
Thanks Scott. We do live in interesting times.

Re jooboo says: April 29, 2010
Jooboo tells us to shut up and stick to our faith.
By taking this offensive action against Christian belief it is obvious he has not yet convinced himself that there is no God
(why would someone sure of his own ‘beliefs’ expend such emotional
energy?)
I have no doubt jooboo would profess to believe in evoution and I would encourage him to take a searching look into the tenets of HIS faith.
The god of evolution is BLIND MINDLESS CHANCE (a fitting god for the unthinking) and its end is ultimately a sterile universe and obliteration of life.
On the other hand CREATION requires an omnipotent, allknowing and purposeful Spirit, whose purpose for his creation is eternal. It therefore behooves his creatures to be reconciled to him while thay have life, and therefore opportunity.
Jesus Christ is the way of reconciliation and to eternal life.
