Census Bureau needs to be told to flush their intrusive Big Brother American Community Survey.

I think Americans should tell the federal government Census Bureau to take their 2009 American Community Survey and flush it. Many of these questions are simply none of their business. Then to threaten Americans that do not respond to this intrusive Big Brother survey is beyond the pale. It is a government bureaucracy out of control. If they need personal data then the survey should be strictly voluntarily. It is time for Americans to reign in these Census Department bureaucrats before they ask you in the next survey how many times you passed gas last year so the government can slap a carbon tax on your butt, or ask if you think their survey is intrusive and an abuse of federal government power so government can label you as a possible terrorist.

Big Brother asks: ‘Do you have a flush toilet?’

The federal government is forcing 3 million Americans to disclose sensitive, personal information about finances, health and lifestyle in a 14-page survey – including questions about availability of household flush toilets and difficulty with undressing and bathing.

The 2009 American Community Survey, an annual supplement to the decennial Census, asks about residents’ personal relationships and whether a home has hot and cold running water, a flush toilet, bathing facilities, appliances and phone services. It also asks how many rooms are in a home and what vehicles are used at each household.

While many recipients may consider the questionnaire to be tedious and meddling, the Census Bureau warns that citizens are required by law to complete it and may be fined as much as $5,000 for willfully refusing. While an individual may feel uneasy about answering each question truthfully, the fine for filing false information can be as much as $500.

  1. This is all a part of the 1 World Anti-Christ system that is coming. They want to get info on us so they can then monitor our every move. Why on earth do they need this level of detail? And how can they require us to do these surveys? Will this be mailed in US Mail? How can they “prove” we did not get the survey unless they send via certified mail that requires a signature or some type of confirmation?

My guess is the Census people will come to your door and hand it to you so you cannot say you did receive it. Just like they will do in the 2010 Census.

  3. We have received 2 of these in the mail so far. My husband and I are determined not answer it. I have researched it quite a bit and all say that you will get put into a 90 day cycle. 30 days of mailings, 30 days of harassing phone calls, 30 days of stalking you at your door. All have said don’t give in they can do nothing to you. The fine in reality is only $100 and has not been enforced since the 1960’s and must be enforced through the justice department.. We plan on saying “5” (number of people that live here) and closing the door! We have also had our address put into a GPS by an ACORN worker the same day he ( the ACORN worker) told us to look for the survey to arrive and he kept saying ” it’s the law”. We are definitely in the end days. Diane

  4. I guess Big Acorn would need a special flush cycle for me. Big Sister Acorn has already been on my drive with her GPS and I live in the middle of nowhere. My dogs said open the gate and come on in, they like to eat Acorns, but she declined. If they want to use that 90 day harassment cycle on me my phone would be an exercise in frustration for them since it is always busy (I have dial up Internet). I could have sworn that harnessing phone calls were illegal anyway. They could never get in my fenced and gated yard with my dogs either.

I was out a couple of days last week and got two phone calls on my answering machine that sounded to me like harassment. The exact words recorded both times were “ARE YOU REGISTERED TO VOTE!” no mention of my name or who it was that was asking me that personal question in a very belligerent tone. If I was home and had answered it I would have told him this is a do not call number and to go mind his own &*# business.

  5. Well, we have completed our 30 day cycle of harassing mail and this evening officially entered into the 30 day bullying phone calls. The phone rang during dinner tonight and went through the answering machine, it was an official giving out a case # and demanding we immediately call the Census Bureau. So new rule was given to our children… Do not answer the phone, let all calls go through the answering machine. I hope they can’t get our cell #’s. I guess this means we can expect the goons at the front door by June 1st !

  6. I think you meant by July 1st. Let us know how you do in the goon phase. Sounds to me like a good opportunity for a new franchise called “rent a junk yard dog”.

  7. We have completed our 30-day cycle of harassing mail and as of a few days ago, we are being harrassed twice a day now with phone calls reminiscent of tactics used by collection agencies. They call mid-day and up to 10 p.m. at night. We’ve now been assigned a “case number,” and the harrassing calls continue.

They should use the 150,000 million dollars–tax payer dollars–for other purposes, like education and schooling.

We will NOT give them any information. Since when is it the law for the census bureau to require knowing how many toilets I have in my home–or how many rooms. They don’t need to know the exact time I leave for work, or anything about my physical, mental and emotional well-being. Not only that, they do not have the right to demand this information of other adults who might be living in our home. If we had adults in our home and gave out their private financial information, we could be sued ourselves.

There is no guarantee of privacy either. The organization handling the information is a for profit business who’s tactics and reputation are debatable.
