I find it interesting that in Revelation the Greek word for the Beast Antichrist and the False prophet is that of a wild animal. The first time this Greek word appears in Revelation is after Satan is cast out of heaven with all his angels. The King James also calls the creatures around the throne beasts but a different Greek word is used and it simply means living creatures. But, the name given to the Antichrist and the False prophet depict that in God’s eyes they are viewed as wild animals.
Chapter 12 of Revelation gives us the exact timing that the Beast arrives on the scene. It occurs just before the testimony of God’s two witnesses is complete. The Beast that comes out of the pit kills these two prophets of God and the Beast is given power to rule on earth for 42 months.
Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
The woman that brought forth the man child is Israel. After Satan is cast out of heaven he knows his time is short to defeat God’s plan. God’s plan is for Jesus to take control of the earth from Satan and for Jesus to rule the earth from Jerusalem. Therefore, through empowering the Beast, Satan tries to eliminate Israel so that God’s plan cannot be fulfilled. However, Michael the archangel is sent to protect a remnant of Israel (Dan 12:1) in the mountains of Jordan until Israel finally acknowledges that Yeshua is their Messiah (Ho 5:15). Then Jesus will return as King of Israel, defeat all the forces of the Beast and set up His Kingdom on earth.
Some might say that Satan ruled the earth before he was cast out of Heaven so what is the difference? The difference is that Satan was given that authority by God and Satan had to submit and report to God. Satan and his angels could not do anything they pleased without answering to God. Now, God rules against Satan ruling the earth in favor of the saints and Jesus, and Satan and his angels no longer have access to God or heaven. They are stuck on earth like men. So Satan and his angels becomee in open rebellion against the God of heaven and they will use all their supernatural powers to deceive those on earth and try to defeat God’s plan for Jesus to take over their rule.
We know from Revelation 13: 4-5 that Satan will give the Beast his power and that the Beast will continue for 42 months. This is what we refer to as the great tribulation, the day of the Lord, or the time of Jacob’s trouble .
Rev 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Now does that passage imply that the Beast will be a Muslim to you? If so, you are missing the point. Satan is going to be cast out unto the earth with all his angels. He is then going to open his big mouth and blaspheme the God of heaven and those that dwell in heaven. He will have power to release demonic forces out of another dimension called the bottomless pit. He will claim to be above anything called God and all that reject Jesus will worship him.
The Beast and his false prophet comes from the bottomless pit, not from man-made religion. God does not even consider these two to be humans. That is why He calls them wild animals. The Beast and the False Prophet will deceive the kings of the earth by spirits of devils working miracles and he will gather them to war at Armageddon (the high plains near the city of Megiddo). This will be the staging ground from which the armies of the world will battle against Jerusalem and the Lord.
Rev 16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
What it comes down to is that it may be more like aliens coming from the stars or from another dimension with a message that is contrary to those dwelling in heaven then some clash between world religions. How do humans war against supernatural forces? The fact of the matter is that they can’t in the flesh. All who take up arms against the Beast will wake up dead.
I do not think the gathering of the armies of the world to the high plains of Megiddo will be any natural airlift either. I think it will all be done by angels. So, it is not going to take years for the armies of the world to be gathered there.
How will this happen? Who really knows for sure? But, the tares will be gathered to Armageddon because that is where the birds of prey will be gathered for the great supper prepared for them by God (Rev 19: 17-21). Jesus said the wheat and tares will grow in the world together until the great harvest and then the angels will first gather the tares to be burned as the wheat is gathered into His barn (Mt 13:30). As scripture says, “the meek shalll inherit the earth” (the God fearing gentle people that survived the tribulation)
Timothy gives us quite a bit of information about this coming Beast in one short passage.
2 Tim 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
The strong delusion is not Islam. After the two prophets torment the unbelieving world for 1260 days with truth and judgment, nobody is still going to be deluded by the teachings of Islam. The lie that the world will believe will be something much more profound than man-made religion. It will be a whole paradigm shift in man’s thinking.
All of man’s prior thinking about religion will be abandoned. Perhaps people will think that by taking the mark of the Beast that they are part of an evolutionary leap forward into a new age Christ consciousness. The promise from these satanic beings and the big lie might even be that man can obtain immortality like they did without salvation from the God of Israel. Yes, man was made to be immortal, but without God’s salvation he will spend his immortality in the Lake of Fire. That is where the Beast and the False prophet will be cast when Jesus comes.
The satanic Beast and the False Prophet will be truly supernatural. With the exception of where Michael is supernaturally protecting Israel, these satanic beings will have supernatural control over the earth for 42 months and they not be defeated until the Lord comes back. The Beast is not just a deceptive man with a few magic tricks up his sleeve. Those that reject the God of Israel will probably think that Zeus and the gods have returned to the earth (they will be fallen angels). Those that think that that they are going to go through the great tribulation and fight for God against the Beast are not taking the events of Bible prophecy literally. Jesus alone has the power to save the world from the supernatural Beast and his False Prophet.

i always have trouble understanding when people say the rapture is imminent, i know it could be imminent but it would rather be right before the antichrist appears so he could tell everyone what happen. i mean if it happens 2 years from now it would not make any sense, who would tell the world what happen?
Why does the Beast need to explain to the world why certain Christians disappeared? I am sure the world could find some rationalization all by themselves. New Age already believes that the unteachable Christians need be sent to another dimension so they stop hindering human evolution and progression.
Enoch was taken alive to heaven a half of a generation before the flood judgment. So if that is a type, there could be a time span from the time the hinder is removed and Satan is cast out of Heaven and the Beast is released out of the pit.

I really appreciate the post about the fig tree… It cements in my mind not to put too much stock in the 1948 date (or the 1967 date, or any other historical date); The mere fact that Israel is a state is pretty much a super sign (of imminence). Nor do I put too much stock in the 70 or 80 or 120 or any other number for what constitutes a generation span.
Instead, I prefer to look at the ‘things that must be fulfilled’ and turn to something Jesus stated repeatedly: “watch and pray” (and, the last word in Mark 13 that Jesus stated: “Watch”).
From “watch and pray”, we can continually refine a ball park idea, as we can infer “the season”, and we avoid “date setting” (even the Son does not know the day / hour, only the Father).
Of course, with that said, I / we (genuine servants, albeit flawed in this flesh) desire to know future things in terms of what we must do, both in terms of survival and as servants. As for me, I desire rapture – not so much as a “get out of jail free card” but, frankly, for “rest and peace”; But, alas, if I / we must carry on in the present, then give us strength Oh Lord. Our immediate challenge is “the wrath of man” (ok, maybe that’s forthcoming).

but i seem to get the point now, the generation that most likely sees all the signs in full force is the one most likely 20 years prior to the start of the tribulation period. That’s what jesus meant by saying all those signs to look for wars, rumors of war, etc. But what about the 20th century? we all saw the terrible wars and that is exactly when israel was created. The bottom line is that what jesus was saying is the generation that sees the major signs prior to the tribulation period will see the 2nd coming. I belive we are staring to see these signs right about now, but not in full force though, if a generation is about 20 years, then i can say that all these signs are about to start and we will see the 2nd coming by probably 2030. Christ must return on a jubilee year, the next one is in 2018. Man at his current level of corruption and distress will not survive another 50 years. 2018 – 7 years of tribulation = 2011, I look forward to my King and Saviors return so I can be free from this glass darkly and sinful nature that plagues us. Rebirth of Israel 1948 + 70 years = 2018; the recapture of Jerusalem in our calender year 1967 but in the Jewish calender Year makes it 1968 + 50 years = 2018. Plus 2018 = 5778 in the Hebrew calender, then add a 1000 years for the reign of Christ and you get 6778 = Man, Holy Spirit or the Church, reign of Christ, New Beginning. It fits just perfectly, however if He comes in the next 10 minutes that’s fine by me, the sooner the better, but every soul counts !
The signs given in the Gospels are the one’s we are seeing today and then the second coming, the second coming is not the rapture of the church it is when Christ sets foot on the Mt. of Olives and splits it and establishes His Kingdom. So if these signs that were seeing today are the signs of His second coming, that just means the rapture of the church is very, very imminent. Awesome !!!

Tom, There is no reason to think that 2018 is a jubilee year. Many people have written me telling me they have the seconded coming all figured out based on some dating formula for the Jubilees. The problem is they all come with different years for the coming of Jesus.
iv been listening to the trumpet.com and gerald flurry has his video up today on the site and he talks about how this financial crisis will bring about the antichrist in europe very soon. He says that the 10 kings have almost formed. But he seems to be pointing to this guy from germany named guttenberg, who is rising fast on the scene and is trying to form a new military in germany. I dont think this guy has anything to do with the antichrist, but flurry keeps saying that he will change the world with the new germany.
Bob, I read the link and it is very good but the problem is that Israel is still a dead tree full of dry bones. How can Israel have been born spiritually in 1948 when it is mostly full of unbelievers? If God did not have a future purpose for Israel He would have to cast them out of the Land again. It is much more likely that “the generation that will not pass away” is one that shows signs of spiritual life by putting forth spiritual shoots. Perhaps that starts at the end of the Psalm 83 war.
The Revived Roman Empire still has a ways to go. The EU does not have the right make up of nations. The Med nations must be added and some Eastern European nations will depart. I am now inclined to think that the revived Roman Empire will have ten zones or regions and these will be what the ten kings rule. I believe there is already a plan in place for ten regions.

This mess in Europe is going to happen sooner than a lot of us may think. Remember, the EU (especially the smaller nations currently) are supported by being bailed out from money from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The IMF gets approx. 40-60% of it’s money from the U.S. Federal Reserve. When the nations of Europe eventually fall (the UK is in dire straits as we speak), it is going to take the United States with them. When that happens, the world will be literally begging for a ‘savior.’ In steps the Anti-Christ with his ‘solutions.’

I agree that the present E.U. the U.S. Japan and S.Korea and others will have a monetary collapse within the next ten years. That will set things up for a world war and the rise of different world order. Only after the ten kings appear in the area of the old Roman Empire and they rule for a short period can the little horn appear among them. Therefore, we are looking at more like a 20 year timeline until the Beast.
The civil war in Europe with Islam could last for years in itself.

I could be wrong, but I think that the only thing Satan really knows about God is through what has been displayed in His visible image (the Son of God). Satan thinks he also is a Son of God and he compares himself to the visible YHWH and that is why the whole Bible is about Satan’s attempt to defeat the plans of the Son of God.
I do not think Satan is trying to be the invisible omnipresent omnipotent God through the Beast. At this point he already knows he lost his position in Heaven. He is trying to defeat the plan of the Son of God on earth through the Beast. Thus, through the Beast he claims to have the power to defeat the coming of Jesus. All that do not want the Son to rule on earth will be deceived into believing that lie.
In response to David Henley and Bob. And at risk of opening up a can of worms here, perhaps there are things, and the meanings of which, that are ultimately hidden from Satan. I would agree with Don. Satan’s problem is an envy problem. We all know that jealousy is blinding.
Read Heb 2, actually 1&2, and you’ll get the full scope of the genesis of Satan’s envy. Jesus, in order to be kinned to us, was made temporarily like us. So that as Heb 2:14 says, “…that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil,” Moreover, God (as described in Heb 2:16), would not bend down to help fallen angels (the greek word being epilambonatai- metaphorically drawn from laying hold of another to rescue him from peril), but he did rather bend down to help the fallen seed of Abraham.
I would guess Satan, being the anointed cherub, didn’t take kindly to Jesus obtaining a more excellent name than he. Satan’s appointment is, as Don said in his article, to, “…try to defeat God’s plan for Jesus to take over their rule.” He failed in his attempt to kill their Messiah, when God raised him up. He mustn’t have seen that one comin’. He knows he’s running out of chances. It’s probably the reason he’s ramping up his efforts.
We sometimes forget that Satan actually believes that he can defeat God. He is the most prideful being in the universe. He actually thinks he will, “be like the Most High.” What’s funny is because of his blindness he didn’t even understand what Christ was on earth for, otherwise he wouldn’t have killed Him.

Pride comes from self-aggrandizement and Satan has no power over those that put on the whole armor of God (eph 6:11).
Satan has a purpose and a place prepared for his end. We cannot fully understand what has not been revealed with our limited minds but I think we are being raised up to replace the Devil and his angels.
This drama has already been determined in the mind of God. Yet, each has his own role in time. But what is time to God? Time might just be the most basic unit of thought in God’s mind. If that is true Satan was judged in a instant now each of the Sons of God has to play out their God given role in that thought.
Let me put it this way. If you make a film production there are millions of frames and each frame is unique, but together they make up the whole film production. Yet, light is not shown through one frame any longer than any another. Think of yourself as one frame in a production and someone who lived 6 thousand years ago as another frame in that production. All frames do what they were designed for in the instant that they were in the light but only one frame was feeling the heat at a time. Nevertheless, the production seems to last a while from the last frames in the production that are looking back in time.
Is this a good analogy? Probably not. But for a three dimensional being to question the judgment of an infinite God who is outside of space and time is like Daffy Duck questioning the judgment of his artist.
Bob: God’s eternal purpose is to have a people that are obedient and love Him that were not necessarily created to do so (Revelation 21:6, “It is done.” http://kingjbible.com/revelation/21.htm ). The angels in heaven were created with knowledge of Him and to serve Him. This shows the pride and blindness that Satan has. He was created with not only knowledge of God, but direct access to Him, yet he still rebelled because he wanted more power.
God’s reward for His people are things that our limited minds cannot even imagine. Likewise, Satan’s punishment is going to be something he cannot imagine.

That is why He calls them wild animals.” Rev 19:20 states that the beast and the false prophet were both cast alive into the of fire without being judged at the great white throne judgment of which the bible states that ALL MEN who are lost will face according to Rom 14:10, 2 Cor 5:10, Heb 9:27, Rev 20:12-15 (esp v.13) etc. As the beast and false prophet bypass this judgment and are cast directly into the lake of fire (the ultimate destination for all the lost after their judgment – Rev 20:15) it, at least to me, makes the point that they cannot be human or they would HAVE to face the white throne judgment according to God’s word.
Rev 19:19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
Rev 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
Good point, and because they were cast alive into the Lake of Fire tells me that they cannot die a physical death again.
hey Don, I hope I am not quoting off topic here but I have seen this in some comments on this topic. The whole fig tree scenario. Its not the life span of man, its the national identity of Israel. The word generation means national identity.
